Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deploy optimization engines that control BEV charging and discharging to minimize household energy costs.
- Build, train, and evaluate machine learning and optimization models for energy price, demand, and vehicle-usage forecasting and control optimization.
- Collaborate with engineers and product managers to align development with complex product and technical needs.
- Identify technical issues, propose solutions, and lead communication with internal and external stakeholders.
- Work with integration teams to ensure newly developed technologies operate usefully and seamlessly.
- Mentor team members and promote engineering best practices through documentation, collaboration, and code quality.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or an equivalent area.
- At least seven years of relevant experience in machine learning, optimization, or data science.
- Strong programming skills, particularly in Python and Go, and experience with ML frameworks.
- Experience taking machine learning models from prototype to production.
- Knowledge of at least one cloud compute platform, such as AWS.
- Strong business communication skills with stakeholders.
- Experience designing core, well-tested building blocks that other teams can rely on.
- Ability to design and code from the user’s perspective.
- Business-level proficiency in Japanese and English.
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes is preferred.
- Experience with build systems and continuous integration or continuous deployment is preferred.
- Experience with GPU compute for machine learning components is preferred.
