Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate backend systems that apply signal-finding models at scale.
- Own Kafka and Flink components from architecture and implementation through production reliability, performance, and evolution.
- Partner with data scientists to turn models and signal requirements into robust production workflows.
- Improve the scalability, observability, and operational resilience of data-processing systems.
- Lead technical decisions, collaborate across engineering teams, review designs, and mentor engineers.
Requirements
- Significant backend engineering experience building and operating distributed systems in production.
- Hands-on experience with Kafka and Flink, including designing or improving data-processing pipelines at scale.
- Ability to reason about throughput, latency, reliability, and maintainability and translate tradeoffs into clear designs and working code.
- Ability to collaborate with data scientists and engineering partners on open-ended requirements.
- Ability to own a technical area, share context, review designs, and support teammate growth.
- Curiosity about using AI tools to improve software development and ability to evaluate their output critically.
