Responsibilities
- Build Android features involving robust background work, offline resiliency, networking, storage, permissions, and security.
- Own end-to-end Android features and lead well-scoped initiatives while mentoring junior engineers.
- Partner with backend teams on API contracts and optionally contribute to services and APIs.
- Improve startup performance, ANR, jank, crash-free percentages, reliability, and technical debt.
- Participate in Android on-call rotations and define or enhance SLIs and SLOs.
- Contribute to architecture decisions and engineering standards.
- Use AI-assisted and agentic workflows for development, testing, and full-stack scaffolding while maintaining quality and security.
Requirements
- 4–8 years of Android development experience.
- Experience building and maintaining production systems.
- Proficiency with Android, Kotlin or Java, Jetpack, concurrency, background work, networking, storage, and permissions.
- Testing discipline, Git, modern development workflows, and familiarity with CI/CD.
- Understanding of client-server interactions and API consumption.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools and sound verification practices.
- Bonus experience with MDM or device-management systems, Android Enterprise, AOSP, MQTT, or WebSocket.
