$115k - $235k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead development and begin architecting scalable, elastic distributed-system components.
- Optimize code and systems for high-throughput, hyper-scale data processing and use data-plane platforms for retrieval, storage, and processing.
- Define scalability, availability, durability, correctness, and service-level objectives for owned components.
- Design fault-tolerant systems using redundancy, replication, automatic failover, load-shedding, throttling, and rate-limiting.
- Build KPIs, telemetry, dashboards, alerting, performance tests, fault-injection scenarios, and brownout tests.
- Implement data replication and synchronization techniques to maintain integrity and availability.
- Diagnose, debug, and resolve production issues; participate in incident response, root-cause investigations, and operational support rotations.
- Implement security controls, execute remediation plans, and maintain cloud compliance documentation.
- Develop infrastructure-as-code automation and change-management plans for patching, updates, and rollbacks.
- Coordinate moderately complex tasks and projects, provide technical oversight, mentor junior team members, participate in interviews, and recommend process improvements.
Requirements
- Principal-level experience designing and developing scalable distributed systems and high-throughput workloads.
- Experience with fault tolerance, redundancy, replication, failover, network partitions, consistency, availability, durability, and service-level objectives.
- Experience with telemetry, dashboards, alerting, performance and load testing, fault injection, brownout testing, and production troubleshooting.
- Experience implementing security controls, encryption, access controls, remediation, compliance practices, and cloud infrastructure automation.
- Ability to provide technical oversight, coordinate work across projects, collaborate with stakeholders, mentor colleagues, and contribute to hiring decisions.
