Principal Software Engineer - Map Rendering

Responsibilities

  • Design and evolve the core rendering engine powering HERE SDK map visualization across platforms.
  • Develop real-time 2D/3D rendering systems, GPU-accelerated graphics pipelines, and cross-platform abstraction layers.
  • Collaborate with product, platform, and research teams to define scalable rendering solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentor team members, guide architectural decisions, and shape the long-term rendering strategy.
  • Provide on-demand on-site support to resolve complex customer issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a similar technical field.
  • 12+ years of professional software development experience, including at least 8 years of modern C++ development using C++17 or newer.
  • Experience with mobile platforms including iOS Swift, Android Kotlin/Java, or cross-platform frameworks such as Flutter.
  • Strong expertise in real-time 3D graphics programming with Vulkan, Metal, or OpenGL ES.
  • Deep understanding of rendering pipelines, GPU architecture, and performance optimization techniques.
  • Strong knowledge of algorithms, data structures, computational geometry, multithreaded systems, and performance-critical systems.
  • Extensive experience with STL, Boost, large-scale C++ codebases, and modern build systems such as CMake and Gradle.
  • Strong understanding of object-oriented and component-based software design.
  • Fluent communication skills in English and Mandarin.
  • Exposure to automotive-related software is preferred but not required.
