Responsibilities
- Own the full product life cycle from business requirements and technology selection through coding standards, development, testing, CI/CD, and monitoring.
- Design, develop, and maintain backend platforms and data pipelines across fintech.
- Build stable, scalable, and highly performant systems for financial technology applications.
- Architect and maintain scalable data pipelines and storage solutions for data collection, processing, and analysis.
- Write high-quality code and mentor engineers across the team and wider organization.
- Collaborate with teams and departments to advance product and technology goals.
- Use metrics and data to make informed decisions and improve operational excellence.
- Recruit and onboard exceptional talent.
- Lead projects, initiatives, and teams with ownership of the systems involved.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience developing high-performance production applications.
- Strong proficiency in Java, Kotlin, Scala, or C#.
- Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop and real-time processing frameworks such as Apache Spark.
- Advanced knowledge of SQL and data architecture.
- Systems-thinking skills covering edge cases, failure modes, and system life cycles.
- Experience with Scrum/Agile development methodologies.
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
- Experience with operational excellence and a deep understanding of metrics, alarms, and dashboards.
- Fintech or payments organization experience is preferred.
- Domain knowledge in financial reconciliation, financial reporting, tax, virtual credit cards, or customer payments is preferred.
- Hands-on experience with Spark, ETLs, Kafka, RabbitMQ, GitLab, and Kubernetes is preferred.
- Experience developing, maintaining, and debugging large-scale distributed systems is preferred.
- Experience leading projects, initiatives, or teams with full ownership of the systems involved is preferred.
