Responsibilities
- Design and build Python automations for API integrations, data pipelines, scheduled jobs, and business-process replacements.
- Maintain, debug, repair, and modernize unattended Power Automate cloud and desktop flows.
- Administer Power Platform environments, solutions, connection references, and pipeline-managed deployments.
- Migrate Power Automate flows to Python when appropriate and retire flows that should not be indefinitely patched.
- Integrate systems over REST APIs with JSON/XML transformation, authentication, rate-limit handling, and resilient error handling.
- Write SQL queries, tables, and stored procedures supporting automation workflows.
- Operate and improve production automations through logging, monitoring, alerting, runbooks, retries, and idempotent job design.
- Evaluate and help move scheduled VM-based jobs toward containerized or Azure-native execution.
- Use AI coding tools in daily development within company governance and review standards.
- Document automation solutions for engineers and business stakeholders.
Requirements
- Strong Python proficiency, including scripting, packaging, error handling, structured logging, and sufficient testing for unattended production jobs.
- Hands-on experience reading, debugging, repairing, and administering complex unattended Power Automate cloud and desktop flows.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in automation engineering, RPA, or software engineering roles with production automations that were subsequently operated.
- Experience integrating REST APIs, including authentication patterns and rate-limit handling.
- SQL Server competence, including T-SQL queries, tables, and stored procedures through a reviewed and versioned release process.
- Working knowledge of Azure DevOps pipelines; exposure to Azure Functions, Container Apps, or AKS is a plus.
- Demonstrated current use of AI-assisted coding tools and the ability to explain an agentic coding workflow in concrete detail.
- PowerShell and shell scripting experience on Windows and Linux hosts.
- At least 90% English proficiency, written and oral, at C1 level, with strong communication skills for working with non-technical process owners.
- Ability to design production-ready jobs with idempotency, retries with backoff, and appropriately tuned alerting.
- Ability to work USA Eastern Time business hours, remain focused for extended periods, and work extra hours on short notice when needed.
