Responsibilities

  • Architect, develop, and operate Java services supporting user conversion, retention, and upsell journeys.
  • Design scalable backend systems, data models, and APIs on Google Cloud Platform.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional squads, engineering managers, product managers, marketing, growth, and business stakeholders.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and independent ownership within an autonomous squad.
  • Identify and solve complex scaling, automation, and platform capability challenges.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience as a Backend Engineer working with Java.
  • Strong computer science fundamentals and experience building complex backend services at scale.
  • Experience designing, implementing, and scaling cloud-native software components on providers such as Google Cloud Platform or AWS.
  • Experience working directly with stakeholders to define, document, and develop APIs and systems.
  • Experience writing, deploying, and operating distributed, high-volume services in production.
  • Ability to collaborate on cross-functional teams and independently drive complex delivery initiatives.
  • Preferred experience with gRPC, Google Cloud Platform, BigQuery, Bigtable, external CMS integrations, machine learning teams, recommendations, or data pipelines.
