Responsibilities

  • Develop, test, debug, and maintain IBM Assembler Language Code programs on Z/OS mainframes.
  • Conduct trial runs, troubleshoot programs, and ensure efficient application performance.
  • Modify existing assembler code to satisfy new technical and business requirements.
  • Collaborate with systems analysts and IT staff to define and resolve issues.
  • Create and maintain documentation covering program logic, workflows, and updates.
  • Interface with front-end systems and support modernization efforts, including migration to Java or MongoDB.
  • Follow federal standards, data protection laws, and agency-specific security protocols.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, or four additional years of experience in lieu of the degree.
  • 4–8 years of experience working with ALC in a mainframe environment.
  • Proficiency with IBM Job Control Language, TSO, ISPF, and common debugging tools.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Active IRS MBI Public Trust clearance required.
