Responsibilities
- Develop, test, debug, and maintain IBM Assembler Language Code programs on Z/OS mainframes.
- Conduct trial runs, troubleshoot programs, and ensure efficient application performance.
- Modify existing assembler code to satisfy new technical and business requirements.
- Collaborate with systems analysts and IT staff to define and resolve issues.
- Create and maintain documentation covering program logic, workflows, and updates.
- Interface with front-end systems and support modernization efforts, including migration to Java or MongoDB.
- Follow federal standards, data protection laws, and agency-specific security protocols.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, or four additional years of experience in lieu of the degree.
- 4–8 years of experience working with ALC in a mainframe environment.
- Proficiency with IBM Job Control Language, TSO, ISPF, and common debugging tools.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Active IRS MBI Public Trust clearance required.
