Responsibilities
- Architect and design distributed applications with strict performance and resilience requirements.
- Build, extend, troubleshoot, and fix complex Ruby and Go applications and self-contained Go microservices.
- Write well-designed, testable, and efficient Ruby and Go code.
- Integrate PostgreSQL, Amazon S3, Redis, Kafka, ClickHouse, and other data-storage solutions.
- Contribute throughout the development lifecycle, conduct code reviews, and provide technical leadership on shared projects.
- Evaluate existing systems, identify bottlenecks and bugs, and devise improvements.
- Maintain code quality, organization, and automation for the Engine team’s recipe-runtime systems.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience building scalable distributed backend applications and 7+ years of industry experience.
- Strong understanding of distributed-systems patterns and algorithms, web-application building blocks, network protocols, databases, NoSQL technologies, and data structures and algorithms.
- Experience with at least two programming languages; the primary codebase is Ruby with migration toward Go and Rust.
- Basic understanding of Kubernetes, Terraform, and Argo CD cloud deployments.
- Experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud infrastructure.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related subject.
- Background in Go, Rust, WebAssembly, Kotlin Multiplatform, network programming, application or data security, physical database design, Docker, or related fields such as DevOps, ML, DBA, and enterprise applications is valued.
- Experience building or deploying data-processing pipelines and working with third-party REST APIs at scale is a plus.
- Ability to technically lead projects, work with requirements and cost analysis, and collaborate with globally distributed teams and time zones.
