Responsibilities
- Set the technical direction and own the end-to-end ML stack for menu personalization, including feature pipelines, training workflows, model serving, experimentation tooling, and infrastructure.
- Take research and experiments into reliable production services that meet latency, scalability, and observability requirements.
- Shape the personalization roadmap with Product and Engineering leadership using data and user evidence.
- Operate, instrument, and continuously improve production systems.
- Raise the team’s technical bar through architecture reviews, mentorship, and hands-on production ML practices.
- Make long-term platform and architecture decisions and drive engineering standards adopted by other ML and data teams.
- Collaborate across HelloFresh on best practices and company-wide engineering initiatives.
Requirements
- 8+ years building and operating production machine learning systems, with a track record of technical leadership at scale.
- Experience making architectural decisions that remained effective over multiple years and influenced teams beyond the immediate team.
- Production experience with recommender systems or large-scale personalization is strongly preferred.
- Fluency with Python, Spark, Go, Kafka, and Kubernetes, plus hands-on experience with pipelines, model serving, and observability at scale.
- Statistical literacy for designing honest experiments and evaluating model improvements accurately.
- Operational judgment to diagnose system behavior, identify root causes, and build systems that can be debugged under real load.
- Hands-on experience using Claude Code, Cursor, and Copilot beyond casual experimentation, including daily use of AI agents.
- Strong product sense, evidence-based decision-making, and the ability to translate technical work into business value.
- Bias toward shipping, full ownership, and ability to complete work through the final stages.
