Base Salary
$147k - $199k/yr
Responsibilities
- Define and drive the strategic direction for frontend engineering practices, tooling, architecture, and skill development.
- Lead development of accessible, performant, user-centered web applications for government customers.
- Design modern frontend architectures, development pipelines, deployment infrastructure, component libraries, and design systems.
- Deliver customer-facing application features while balancing user experience, accessibility, business requirements, and implementation effort.
- Establish frontend standards for mobile-first development, testing, performance optimization, accessibility, and code quality.
- Improve developer experience, application quality, frontend infrastructure, and technical tooling across teams.
- Implement automated unit, component, end-to-end, and accessibility testing in development and CI/CD pipelines.
- Collaborate with product managers and designers on UI/UX decisions and customer-facing application development.
- Lead cross-functional technical initiatives, make organization-wide architectural decisions, and mentor engineers at all levels.
- Work across the full stack when needed, with frontend engineering as the primary focus.
Requirements
- 10+ years of related experience.
- Proven experience architecting and implementing modern frontend applications at scale using React and/or Angular.
- Strong proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript, with deep understanding of web platform APIs, CSS architecture, responsive design, and cross-browser compatibility.
- Experience with frontend build tooling, bundling, deployment pipelines, design systems, component libraries, CDN strategies, and asset optimization.
- Practical experience implementing WCAG 2.1 AA and Section 508 accessibility standards, including axe-core, eslint-pluginjsx-a11y, and automated accessibility testing.
- Experience with Jest, Vitest, React Testing Library, Angular Testing Library, Playwright, Cypress, or similar testing tools.
- Knowledge of state management, asynchronous data handling, web performance optimization, Core Web Vitals, frontend monitoring, and API integration patterns.
- Understanding of GraphQL or REST, backend services, cloud deployment patterns, static hosting, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong product thinking and experience collaborating with product managers and designers on user-centered applications.
- Demonstrated ability to lead large-scale technical initiatives, influence multiple teams, communicate technical strategy, and mentor engineers.
- Must be a US citizen and able to obtain and maintain Public Trust 6C.
