Responsibilities
- Shape architecture and provide technical direction across two engineering teams in the Transaction domain.
- Design and implement scalable customer-facing frontend and backend solutions from discovery and system design through production.
- Build checkout experiences with React and TypeScript while contributing to backend services and APIs.
- Drive adoption of architecture, performance, security, testing, observability, and reliability practices.
- Create reusable technical patterns, guidelines, and platform capabilities for recurring engineering challenges.
- Align Checkout, Payments, Orders, Shipping, and other dependent teams on cross-domain technical priorities.
- Mentor engineers, facilitate architecture and design discussions, and lead complex initiatives through influence.
- Partner with Product, UX, Security, SRE, and engineering leadership to connect technical strategy with customer and business impact.
- Use metrics, data, and industry trends to prioritize investments and evaluate technical trade-offs.
Requirements
- Deep hands-on frontend engineering expertise with React and TypeScript.
- Professional backend development experience with at least one language or framework such as Node.js, Java, or Python.
- Experience working across the stack on production backend services, APIs, and customer-facing applications.
- Staff/Principal-level experience or equivalent technical scope.
- Experience designing complex systems and driving architectural decisions across multiple teams or domains.
- A strong record of leading through influence, mentoring experienced engineers, and growing other engineers.
- Ability to establish engineering standards and facilitate technical alignment among competing requirements and stakeholders.
- Strong technical depth combined with business and product judgment.
- Experience with checkout, payments, orders, e-commerce, or marketplace systems is preferred.
- Exposure to native Android/Kotlin or iOS/Swift development is valuable.
