Responsibilities
- Provide architectural direction across two engineering teams and connected Transaction domains.
- Build customer-facing frontend experiences with React and scalable backend services with Java.
- Lead architecture and system design from discovery through implementation and production.
- Drive adoption of architecture, performance, security, testing, observability, and reliability practices.
- Create alignment across Checkout, Payments, Orders, Shipping, and other dependent teams.
- Mentor engineers and facilitate architecture and design discussions without relying on formal authority.
- Partner with Product, UX, Security, SRE, and engineering leadership to connect technical decisions to business impact.
- Use metrics, data, and industry trends to prioritize technical investments and evaluate trade-offs.
Requirements
- Deep hands-on frontend engineering experience with React and TypeScript.
- Professional backend development experience with at least one language or framework such as Node.js, Java, or Python.
- Experience contributing to production backend services and APIs across the stack.
- Staff/Principal-level experience or equivalent technical scope, including complex systems and multi-team architectural decisions.
- A strong record of technical leadership through influence, mentoring, and developing other engineers.
- Ability to facilitate technical alignment, introduce engineering standards, and guide decisions across competing requirements.
- Strong technical depth, business judgment, and product judgment.
- Experience with checkout, payments, orders, e-commerce, or marketplace systems is preferred.
- Exposure to native Android/Kotlin or iOS/Swift development is valuable.
