Responsibilities
- Provide technical direction and shape architecture across two engineering teams and connected transaction domains.
- Design and implement scalable distributed solutions across frontend and backend systems.
- Build customer-facing checkout and transaction experiences using React and scalable backend capabilities using Java.
- Guide solutions from discovery and system design through implementation and production.
- Drive architecture, performance, security, testing, observability, and reliability practices across teams.
- Create reusable technical patterns, guidelines, and platform capabilities for recurring challenges.
- Lead cross-team initiatives involving Checkout, Payments, Orders, Shipping, Product, UX, Security, SRE, and engineering leadership.
- Mentor engineers, facilitate architecture and design discussions, and enable teams to make independent technical decisions.
- Use metrics, data, and industry trends to evaluate trade-offs and guide technical strategy.
Requirements
- Deep hands-on frontend engineering experience with React and TypeScript.
- Professional backend development experience with at least one language or framework such as Node.js, Java, or Python.
- Experience contributing to production backend services and APIs across the stack.
- Staff/Principal-level experience or equivalent technical scope, including complex system design and architectural decisions affecting multiple teams or domains.
- Strong experience leading through influence, mentoring engineers, and establishing engineering standards.
- Strong technical depth combined with business and product judgment and experience using metrics to guide decisions.
- Experience collaborating with Product, UX, Security, SRE, and engineering stakeholders.
- Experience with checkout, payments, orders, e-commerce, or marketplace systems is preferred.
- Exposure to native Android/Kotlin or iOS/Swift development is preferred.
