Responsibilities
- Define Malt’s two- to three-year engineering platform technical strategy and roadmap across backend, frontend, reliability, security, and agentic capabilities.
- Design and build company-wide platform foundations and consolidate existing agentic proof-of-concepts into enterprise-grade capabilities.
- Prototype, scale, and embed autonomous AI agents into software development workflows such as merge-request reviews, code-quality automation, and security fixes.
- Deliver self-service platform tools, reusable components, guardrails, and documentation as a platform product for engineering teams.
- Write production code on complex platform systems and provide reference implementations for difficult technical problems.
- Drive engineering best practices, coding standards, architecture reviews, operational excellence, and technical alignment across engineering leads.
- Mentor and coach platform engineers, particularly senior and mid-level engineers, on technical and agentic patterns.
Requirements
- 15+ years of professional software engineering experience, including a proven Staff- or Principal-level track record in high-scale platform environments.
- High proficiency in Kotlin or Java and familiarity with GCP and modern web frameworks such as Nuxt and VueJS.
- Strong experience with backend architecture, APIs, data models, and company-wide platform foundations.
- Demonstrated experience building product-grade agentic workflows used by software engineers to review, test, or ship code rather than demonstrations or proof-of-concepts.
- Ability to own platform delivery from architecture through adoption and work effectively amid uncertainty and staffing constraints.
- Strong ownership, problem-solving, communication, technical leadership, and cross-functional alignment skills.
- Excellent written and spoken English; French is a valuable bonus.
