Responsibilities
- Define and drive Malt’s 2–3 year technical vision and roadmap for the engineering platform across backend, frontend, infrastructure, and agentic capabilities.
- Design and build company-wide platform foundations in partnership with Backend, Frontend, and SRE leads.
- Prototype, scale, and embed autonomous AI agents into software development lifecycle workflows such as merge-request reviews, code quality, testing, and security fixes.
- Deliver the platform as a product through self-service tools, reusable components, guardrails, documentation, and developer experience improvements.
- Write production code for complex platform systems and reference implementations.
- Drive engineering standards, architecture reviews, code quality, operational excellence, and platform adoption.
- Mentor and coach platform engineers, including Senior and mid-level engineers.
- Align engineering and technical leads around platform strategy and agentic development paradigms.
Requirements
- 15+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Proven experience operating at Staff or Principal level in high-scale platform environments.
- High proficiency in Kotlin or Java.
- Experience with GCP and modern web frameworks such as Nuxt and VueJS.
- Strong understanding of complex backend architecture, APIs, and data models.
- Experience building product-grade agentic workflows used regularly by engineers to review, test, or ship code.
- Ability to define technical strategy, own delivery from architecture through adoption, and work effectively amid uncertainty and staffing constraints.
- Strong ownership, problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and mentoring skills.
- Fluent written and spoken English; French is a valuable bonus.
