Base Salary

$187k - $268k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Define, architect, design, and deliver new software features and solutions for the Nexus switching platform.
  • Develop, debug, test, troubleshoot, and maintain software using C, C++, and Python.
  • Develop and integrate SDKs for NPU, DPU, and networking ASIC platforms, including debugging and optimization.
  • Work with L2/L3, ACL, QoS, packet forwarding, CPU packet paths, and embedded router/switch software.
  • Write clean code and unit tests, apply secure coding principles, and account for feature threat models.
  • Troubleshoot complex production issues, participate in on-call rotations, lead postmortems, and write root cause analyses.
  • Act as a resource for less-experienced colleagues and lead small-to-medium features or projects.
  • Coordinate project timelines, specifications, remediation plans, and delivery communications with stakeholders.
  • Advocate for product features, track adoption and success metrics, and collaborate across functions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 10 years of related experience, or a master’s degree plus 8 years, or a PhD plus 6 years.
  • Experience programming in C and/or C++ and Python.
  • Embedded and/or router/switch software development experience.
  • Experience debugging with tools such as GBD.
  • Experience with SDLC, L2/L3, ACL, QoS, packet forwarding or CPU packet paths, and SDK development on NPU, DPU, or networking ASICs.
  • Experience with traffic-generator tools such as IXIA and Spirent.
  • SDK integration, debugging, and optimization experience is highly desirable.
  • Practical experience developing, deploying, and troubleshooting network processors and/or packet-forwarding ASICs.
  • Experience fostering collaboration across diverse, cross-functional teams.

Benefits

  • U.S. and Canada starting salary range is $186,900.00 to $267,700.00, excluding incentive compensation, equity, and benefits.
  • Benefits may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with Cisco matching, paid parental leave, disability coverage, and basic life insurance, subject to eligibility.
  • Eligible employees may receive Cisco restricted stock units and annual bonuses subject to company policies.
  • Paid time off includes holidays, floating holidays, birthday leave, year-end shutdown, wellness days, vacation or flexible vacation, sick time, and additional family emergency leave, subject to applicable policies.
  • Employees may receive up to 10 paid volunteer days per calendar year.
