Responsibilities
- Design and build scalable backend systems that ingest, process, and serve high-volume health data.
- Lead technical initiatives improving data reliability, observability, and end-to-end system performance.
- Drive architecture decisions for third-party data-source and API integrations.
- Own projects from technical design through implementation, testing, deployment, and ongoing reliability.
- Partner with product, clinical, and data teams to translate healthcare needs into robust technical solutions.
- Improve system resilience and data quality for clinically relevant workflows.
- Mentor engineers and elevate engineering standards through design reviews, testing practices, and operational excellence.
- Contribute to roadmap planning and break ambiguous problems into actionable engineering work.
Requirements
- 7+ years of professional software engineering experience with a strong backend focus using Ruby on Rails or Python.
- Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL.
- Experience designing and operating distributed systems with high reliability and data integrity requirements.
- Experience with data pipelines, event-driven architectures, or real-time processing systems.
- Experience owning complex systems and leading projects from concept through production.
- Strong focus on reliability, testing, documentation, and clear communication with technical and non-technical partners.
- Healthcare systems, medical devices, regulated environments, HIPAA, FDA, device integrations, data quality, validation systems, reconciliation pipelines, platforms, infrastructure, AWS, and modern CI/CD practices are preferred or advantageous.
