Backend Engineer, Core APIs

Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and optimize backend systems for real-time data processing and web services.
- Integrate backend components with other services while ensuring performance and scalability.
- Investigate problematic features by analyzing behavior, forming hypotheses, running experiments, and translating results into engineering improvements.
- Perform performance tuning, debugging, and testing to improve backend reliability and efficiency.
- Collaborate cross-functionally, share engineering practices, and contribute to engineering projects.
- Participate in a shared on-call rotation.
- Mentor junior developers and support team growth.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of backend development experience.
- Strong demonstrated experience with Go and/or Node.js and willingness to learn.
- Experience designing, developing, and maintaining scalable backend systems.
- Experience building and optimizing APIs, real-time data-processing systems, and microservices architectures.
- Strong SQL knowledge and experience with databases such as DynamoDB, Redis, or Elasticsearch.
- Proficiency with Git, IDEs, shell scripting, and CI/CD tools.
- Proficient English communication for a global remote team.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively.
- Preferred: BS/MS in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Preferred: experience with Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, TypeScript, Node.js, Golang, Express, ClickHouse, dbt, Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, Databricks, Datadog, Docker, Kubernetes, large open-source projects, and Internet security and privacy mechanisms.
