JCL Mainframe Migration Engineer

Responsibilities
- Analyze Control-M and/or Atomic mainframe schedules.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and investigate JCL jobs, including spool and SMF data.
- Analyze CICS environments, loaded programs, and configurations, including CA Ideal.
- Investigate ISPF, GDG, PDS, and MFT artifacts for migration planning.
- Convert mainframe JCL batch jobs into PowerShell scripts for Azure.
- Configure and automate nightly, weekly, and monthly batch jobs in Azure.
- Optimize batch performance through concurrency, multithreading, thread safety, and locking mechanisms.
- Document business requirements and clarify technical and operational expectations with stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain PowerShell modules, including code signing and security practices.
- Participate in standups, sprint planning, troubleshooting sessions, and cross-functional collaboration.
Requirements
- Expertise in mainframe JCL and mainframe job scheduling, particularly Control-M.
- Expertise with mainframe CICS and familiarity with CA Ideal.
- Strong PowerShell scripting and Azure automation experience.
- Expertise in mainframe batch concepts including JCL, GDG, and PDS.
- Experience with C#/.NET, SQL Server, and Azure Storage.
- Understanding of thread safety, locking mechanisms, and concurrency in scripting.
- Experience with mainframe-to-cloud migration projects, preferably.
- Ability to interpret and convert JCL scripts to PowerShell.
- Experience operationalizing batch jobs and working with cross-functional teams.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, including experience with Agile methodologies.
