Responsibilities
- Design and build backend features and APIs for the Risk Cloud platform using Java, Kotlin, and Spring Boot.
- Take engineering tasks from requirements through implementation, testing, and production release.
- Write unit and integration tests using JUnit and contribute to a stable deployment lifecycle.
- Diagnose and resolve distributed backend service issues by analyzing logs, console data, request flows, and customer session analytics.
- Own a defined platform domain as a subject matter expert and design maintainable, scalable functions.
- Participate in technical specification reviews, estimate work, and document API contracts, data models, and Confluence runbooks.
- Query and optimize PostgreSQL, Neo4j, and Redis data flows and work with RabbitMQ messaging infrastructure.
- Collaborate with product managers, QA engineers, and frontend developers in Agile sprints, including prioritization and dependency management.
- Participate in peer code reviews and uphold team engineering conventions.
Requirements
- 3–5 years of professional backend, platform, or systems engineering experience in a high-growth environment.
- Strong development experience with Java, Kotlin, or a comparable enterprise JVM language and practical exposure to Spring Boot.
- Experience building, owning, and maintaining production-grade APIs with versioning and stable contracts.
- Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, including complex queries, schema migrations, and query-performance analysis.
- Ability to independently debug complex distributed backend services using logs and monitoring systems such as Datadog.
- Experience verifying compliance protocols with GitLab Ultimate, SonarQube, and Wiz.
- Practical experience using AI coding assistants such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Codex, or Claude Code, including prompting and validating generated output.
- Preferred experience with Go, Neo4j, RabbitMQ, Redis, multi-tenant B2B SaaS applications, event-driven architectures, microservices patterns, or containerized applications.
