Responsibilities
- Collaborate with developers, product managers, and stakeholders to translate requirements into comprehensive, risk-based test coverage.
- Own test strategy, estimation, planning, execution, exit criteria, release-risk assessment, and QA recommendations.
- Perform manual and automated functional, integration, regression, end-to-end, API, service, database, and message-level testing.
- Expand backend test automation using the existing C# and SpecFlow/ReqNRoll frameworks.
- Test trading flows involving execution services, FIX gateways, exchange and broker connectivity, and downstream processing.
- Analyze logs, application behavior, databases, message flows, and system data to isolate defects and support root-cause analysis.
- Support UAT, production deployment, operational readiness, release management, defect triage, and cross-functional delivery ceremonies.
- Document test plans, cases, and results, and improve QA practices through reusable assets, peer review, knowledge sharing, and reduced manual regression effort.
Requirements
- Strong professional experience testing complex trading, financial, transactional, or other high-integrity backend systems.
- Hands-on experience with manual functional, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing in an Agile delivery environment.
- Experience testing APIs and backend services, including requests, responses, events, and persisted data.
- Basic SQL skills and experience diagnosing issues through logs, services, databases, and message flows.
- Practical automation experience with C# or a comparable language, plus Git-based version control, CI/CD pipelines, and build or deployment tooling.
- Ability to convert requirements and business workflows into risk-based test coverage and traceable evidence, from analysis through QA sign-off, UAT, and production release.
- Strong analytical, communication, documentation, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Preferred experience includes US futures or exchange-traded derivatives, electronic order or execution management, FIX protocol, distributed or low-latency systems, asynchronous messaging, resilience, failover, disaster recovery, and controlled releases.
- Experience with tools such as Postman, Swagger, SQL Server, Kafka, Kubernetes, Rancher, TeamCity, Jenkins, Octopus, Jira, and Confluence is advantageous.
- A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant professional experience, is required; ISTQB or another testing certification is advantageous but not essential.
