Responsibilities
- Design and develop machine learning and deep learning features for Knowledge Question Answering in Siri and related Apple search experiences.
- Build and maintain large-scale data systems, knowledge graphs, and production machine learning pipelines.
- Design, deploy, monitor, evaluate, and optimize distributed ML systems serving millions of queries per second.
- Develop measurement, experimentation, human-in-the-loop evaluation, and user-feedback systems to improve model and product quality.
- Partner with product, engineering, and data science teams to translate requirements into technical solutions and improve user experience.
Requirements
- A master's degree in computer science, machine learning, or a related field with at least two years of industry experience building production ML/AI systems, or a PhD in a related field.
- Proficiency in mainstream programming languages such as Python, Scala, and Go.
- Experience building and maintaining large-scale data systems, knowledge graphs, and end-to-end production ML pipelines, ideally with the Apache software stack.
- Production experience with machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
- Experience with natural language processing, statistical data analysis, model evaluation, model deployment, monitoring, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional product, engineering, and data science teams.
- Preferred qualifications include experience scaling distributed ML systems, A/B testing, experimentation frameworks, human-in-the-loop evaluation, LLM deployment, prompt engineering, fine-tuning, RAG, model observability, and consumer-facing ML products.
- Preferred qualifications include a master's degree with at least six years of industry experience or a PhD with at least three years of production ML experience.
