Base Salary

$122k - $146k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs supporting mission-critical business capabilities.
  • Build and enhance microservices and distributed systems using modern software engineering practices.
  • Work with Oracle, PostgreSQL, NoSQL databases, Kafka, Elasticsearch, AWS, and containerized environments.
  • Contribute to cloud-native architecture focused on scale, availability, security, and reliability.
  • Write clean, maintainable, testable, and documented code and participate in code reviews.
  • Collaborate with engineers, product partners, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Troubleshoot complex technical issues and contribute to long-term solutions.
  • Apply DevOps practices including automated testing, deployment, and monitoring.
  • Own work across requirements, design, development, testing, deployment, and production support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3+ years of professional software development experience, preferably with backend or distributed applications.
  • Strong programming experience in Java and/or Python and understanding of object-oriented design and software engineering fundamentals.
  • Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, problem-solving, and API design.
  • Experience building and supporting RESTful APIs, microservices, and cloud-based applications.
  • Experience with relational databases such as Oracle or PostgreSQL, including SQL writing and optimization.
  • Exposure to NoSQL databases, Elasticsearch, distributed data technologies, event-driven architectures, and Kafka.
  • Experience with AWS or another major cloud platform and exposure to infrastructure-as-code and DevOps practices.
  • Understanding of automated testing, containerization, and modern software development practices.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and communicate technical concepts clearly.
  • Preferred experience includes Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes, legacy modernization, database migrations, scalable or data-intensive systems, payments or fintech, open-source or personal technology projects, and AI-assisted development tools.
