Responsibilities
- Design and develop scalable, high-performance frontend architectures using React and TypeScript.
- Investigate complex platform issues, identify root causes, and produce written architectural assessments and recommendations.
- Build and maintain Node.js-based backend services, including BFFs, APIs, and tooling services, that support frontend platforms.
- Improve developer experience and frontend standards through automation, documentation, governance, and tooling.
- Guide developers through code reviews, design discussions, pairing, and frontend architecture mentorship.
- Lead platform improvement initiatives that improve usability, adoption, reliability, and developer productivity.
- Optimize application performance, bundle size, and runtime efficiency.
- Partner with feature teams while balancing platform stability, backward compatibility, and evolving APIs and patterns.
- Contribute to sprint planning, retrospectives, iterative delivery, and long-term technical strategy.
- Support engineering excellence, operational excellence, testing practices, documentation, and process improvement across shared frontend systems.
Requirements
- 5+ years of software development experience.
- Strong expertise in TypeScript and React, including hooks, state management, and performance.
- Experience with monorepos at scale; Nx experience is used by the team and familiarity with task graphs and affected builds is a plus.
- Experience with server-state management and client-side routing in large React applications.
- Hands-on experience with Node.js and backend service development.
- Experience with unit, component, and end-to-end testing infrastructure, such as Vitest and Playwright or equivalents.
- Ability to independently investigate complex codebases and produce clear written architectural assessments.
- Ability to balance ideal architecture with real-world constraints, adapt to changing priorities, and context-switch across initiatives.
- Preferred experience on a dedicated frontend platform or infrastructure team.
- Preferred familiarity with Storybook, Nx, Turborepo, Lerna, GitHub Actions, TanStack Query, TanStack Router, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Preferred knowledge of web performance optimization, cross-browser compatibility, accessibility, developer tools, build tools, bundlers, API integration, SSR/SSG, micro-frontends, cloud platforms, and observability tools.
- Preferred experience with CLI tools, plugins, linters, codemods, Webpack, Vite, Rollup, REST, GraphQL, Next.js, Azure, AWS, or GCP.
- DevOps/SRE experience and the ability to bridge development, testing, deployment, and operations are valued.
