Base Salary
$183k - $215k/yr
Responsibilities
- Architect and implement secure, scalable backend and IoT infrastructure for a fleet of connected EVs.
- Improve cloud infrastructure, including APIs, database schemas, service interactions, event handling, observability, and deployment workflows.
- Build shared API gateway and caching services and support schema upgrades.
- Develop data and API integrations with external services and partner platforms.
- Strengthen platform security and privacy, including user authentication.
- Design highly available systems with geographic redundancy for global deployments.
- Ensure production readiness through automated testing, performance monitoring, and safe deployments.
- Mentor engineers and contribute to technical decisions, hiring, and engineering best practices.
- Partner with external agencies and help establish a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience building and scaling backend systems.
- At least one experience managing remote devices through their full lifecycle.
- Proven ability to design, ship, and operate production systems from scratch.
- Strong knowledge of API design, schema design, and data exchange using REST, GraphQL, gRPC, and JSON-RPC.
- Strong knowledge of event-driven architecture and message queueing systems such as Kafka, Redis, SQS/SNS, and publish/subscribe patterns.
- Experience with authentication and authorization protocols including OAuth2, OID, JWT, SAML, and mTLS.
- Familiarity with MQTT, CoAP, device lifecycle management, and telemetry pipelines.
- Fleet management experience is a bonus.
