Principal Engineer, Mobile Platform & Backend Systems
AlphaSenseResponsibilities
- Set technical direction for client-facing APIs and backend architecture supporting product workflows across web and mobile clients.
- Lead cross-team technical priorities and architectural alignment across application, search and AI, and shared platform organizations.
- Design, implement, and validate production services and subsystems that span team boundaries and are reusable beyond the initial use case.
- Evolve authentication, authorization, entitlements, session management, identity, and configuration services for shared web and mobile capabilities.
- Improve customer-visible reliability, performance, observability, and production validation across client and backend systems.
- Coach engineers and strengthen teams through hands-on delivery, reusable patterns, and technical guidance.
Requirements
- Deep production expertise in backend engineering and distributed systems, including service boundaries, data ownership, consistency, failure recovery, and integration models.
- Significant hands-on contributions to production code and system evolution, with the ability to understand unfamiliar codebases and make sound engineering decisions.
- Experience designing client-facing REST and GraphQL APIs, including business-logic placement, product states, backward compatibility, and mobile lifecycle and network constraints.
- Strong understanding of authentication, authorization, entitlements, session management, trust boundaries, and client-service security implications.
- Experience improving reliability and performance across client and backend systems with practical observability and production-validation expertise.
- Track record of leading consequential technical change across teams through influence rather than reporting authority.
- Product and stakeholder leadership connecting technical decisions to customer value and building alignment with senior leaders.
- Preferred: experience with AI-powered search, research, or analysis workflows.
- Preferred: experience with enterprise identity and managed applications, including Auth0, Microsoft identity, or MDM/MAM ecosystems.
- Preferred: experience designing shared configuration or service discovery for multi-tenant platforms and dedicated customer environments.
- Preferred: experience designing event-driven systems using publish/subscribe or event-streaming architectures such as Kafka.
