Responsibilities
- Build and maintain CI/CD systems, test infrastructure, release automation, and deployment safety mechanisms.
- Improve developer workflows across local and remote development environments, build systems, IDE integrations, and AI-assisted tooling.
- Maintain source control systems, monorepo tooling, build systems, code review infrastructure, and developer environments.
- Build self-service platforms and high-leverage infrastructure that reduce build times and systemic engineering friction.
- Operate scalable systems supporting large engineering organizations and partner across platform teams.
Requirements
- Strong platform engineering background with solid programming experience in Python and Go.
- Proven experience building and operating systems at scale and supporting engineering organizations of 1,000 or more engineers.
- Strong experience with AWS or GCP, with Canva primarily using AWS.
- Thorough production experience with Kubernetes and containerization/orchestration.
- Experience building and maintaining complex CI/CD pipelines at scale using tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Buildkite.
- Experience with Bazel, Gradle, or similar monorepo build tools, with Bazel highly valued.
- Experience implementing monitoring, logging, and alerting, plus proficiency with Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
- Experience with Java or TypeScript, release automation, developer tooling, open-source infrastructure, AI/LLM workflow integration, build optimization, or test infrastructure is valued.
