Responsibilities
- Build and maintain CI/CD systems, test infrastructure, release automation, and deployment safety mechanisms.
- Improve developer workflows across local and remote development environments, build systems, IDE integrations, and AI-assisted development tooling.
- Maintain source control systems, monorepo tooling, build systems, code review infrastructure, and developer environments.
- Build self-service platforms and high-leverage infrastructure that reduce build times and systemic engineering friction.
- Operate and improve cloud infrastructure, monitoring, logging, alerting, and deployment systems at scale.
Requirements
- Strong Platform Engineering background with solid programming experience in Python and Go; Java or TypeScript experience is a plus.
- Proven experience building and operating systems at scale and supporting large engineering organizations of 1,000 or more engineers.
- Strong experience with AWS or GCP, with Canva primarily using AWS.
- Thorough production experience with Kubernetes and containerization and orchestration.
- Experience building and maintaining complex CI/CD pipelines at scale, including tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Buildkite.
- Experience with Bazel, Gradle, or similar monorepo build tools, with Bazel highly valued.
- Experience implementing comprehensive monitoring, logging, and alerting.
- Proficiency with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
- Nice-to-have experience includes release automation, developer tooling, open-source infrastructure or developer tools, AI/LLM integrations in developer workflows, build performance optimization, or test infrastructure at scale.
