
Lead Software Engineer - AI products for R&D

Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end lifecycle of AI products for R&D from initial scoping through live operation.
- Set technical direction and provide guidance and mentoring to engineers, including experienced and senior colleagues.
- Design and develop AI products using platforms and infrastructure provided by internal teams.
- Build engineering foundations, best practices, templates, and project accelerators for AI product development.
- Educate and support scientists so they can contribute to the AI product lifecycle through self-service practices.
- Coordinate priorities and perspectives across science teams, Data Science and AI stakeholders, and internal platform and infrastructure providers.
Requirements
- Educational and professional background in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Statistics, or a closely related field.
- Deep experience in software product design, development, and lifecycle management based on strong software engineering principles.
- Solid knowledge of statistics and machine learning, with hands-on experience using agent harnesses.
- Experience with systems design, containerisation, and distributed computing.
- Strong Python skills.
- Experience with DevOps, CI/CD, and software testing.
- Experience providing technical guidance and direction to engineers, including mentoring experienced colleagues.
- Strong stakeholder management, communication, relationship-building, and ability to explain technical decisions clearly.
