Responsibilities
- Build and evolve high-performance iOS instrumentation SDKs using Swift and Objective-C.
- Design and ship session tracking, crash reporting, sampling, automatic context propagation, and OpenTelemetry integration features.
- Own projects end to end and break ambiguous problems into incremental deliverables.
- Maintain quality through automated tests, continuous integration, documentation, and backwards-compatible upgrade paths.
- Collaborate with backend, frontend, product, and solutions engineering on cohesive observability workflows.
- Review pull requests, discuss design proposals, and support external open-source contributors.
- Mentor teammates, participate in technical design discussions, and help shape the mobile observability roadmap.
Requirements
- Strong iOS mobile engineering experience with Swift and Objective-C; Android experience with Kotlin or Java is optional.
- Demonstrated experience building or maintaining mobile SDKs, platform libraries, or developer-facing platform code used by external developers.
- Experience with performance-sensitive code, including startup time, memory, and network efficiency.
- Familiarity with OpenTelemetry instrumentation, SDKs, collectors, or similar telemetry libraries.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work autonomously in a globally distributed team.
- Ability to work through ambiguity, prioritize progress, and iterate based on feedback.
- Experience with React Native, Flutter, native bindings or bridges, mobile security or privacy, crash aggregation, session replay, sampling, or observability open source is a bonus.
