Responsibilities
- Build and evolve high-performance iOS instrumentation SDKs using Swift and Objective-C.
- Design and ship session tracking, crash reporting, sampling, automatic context propagation, and OpenTelemetry integration features.
- Own projects end-to-end, decompose ambiguous problems, deliver incremental solutions, and iterate based on feedback.
- Maintain quality through automated tests, CI, documentation, and backwards-compatible upgrade paths.
- Collaborate with backend, frontend, product, and solutions engineering teams on end-to-end observability workflows.
- Review pull requests, discuss design proposals, support external open-source contributors, mentor teammates, and contribute to technical and roadmap decisions.
Requirements
- Strong iOS mobile engineering experience with Swift and Objective-C; Android experience with Kotlin or Java is optional.
- Demonstrated experience building or maintaining mobile SDKs, platform libraries, or developer-facing platform code used externally.
- Experience with performance-sensitive code, including startup time, memory, and network efficiency tradeoffs.
- Familiarity with OpenTelemetry instrumentation, SDKs, collectors, or similar telemetry libraries.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work autonomously in a globally distributed team.
- Ability to contribute beyond coding through documentation, mentoring, customer focus, developer experience, and roadmap shaping.
- Preferred experience includes contributions to OpenTelemetry or observability open source, React Native or Flutter, native bindings or bridges, mobile security or privacy, crash aggregation, session replay, or mobile telemetry sampling.
