Responsibilities
- Build and evolve high-performance, stable iOS instrumentation SDKs using Swift and Objective-C.
- Design and ship session tracking, crash reporting, sampling, automatic context propagation, and OpenTelemetry integration features.
- Own projects end to end and break ambiguous problems into incremental deliverables.
- Develop modular solutions, ship MVPs, gather feedback, and iterate quickly.
- Maintain quality through automated tests, CI, documentation, and backwards-compatible upgrade paths.
- Collaborate with backend, frontend, product, and solutions engineering on end-to-end observability workflows.
- Review pull requests, discuss design proposals, and support external open-source contributors.
- Mentor teammates, participate in technical design discussions, and help shape the mobile observability roadmap.
Requirements
- Strong iOS engineering experience with Swift and Objective-C; Android experience with Kotlin or Java is optional.
- Experience building or maintaining mobile SDKs, platform libraries, or developer-facing platform code used by external developers.
- Experience with performance-sensitive code, including startup time, memory usage, and network efficiency.
- Familiarity with OpenTelemetry instrumentation, SDKs, collectors, or similar telemetry libraries.
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in ambiguous problem spaces.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience working in a fully remote, globally distributed team.
- Customer focus, developer-experience orientation, documentation and mentoring ability, and pragmatic prioritization skills.
- Preferred experience includes contributions to OpenTelemetry or observability open source, crash reporting libraries, React Native, Flutter, native bindings or bridges, mobile security and privacy, platform integrations, crash aggregation, session replay, or mobile telemetry sampling.
