Responsibilities
- Maintain and modernize real-time services on the Telephony Engines.
- Architect backend libraries and APIs for the Telephony Platform.
- Build and optimize low-latency media pipelines for voice and video.
- Investigate and resolve complex production issues across PSTN and WebRTC.
- Run load, failover, and regression tests on Telephony Engines.
- Partner with various teams to design end-to-end call flows and integrations.
- Participate in on-call and release rotations, monitoring health and driving improvements.
- Shape the Tel Core roadmap and mentor other engineers.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of software engineering experience in a SaaS or real-time communications environment.
- Proficiency in coding with AI agents to enhance development and code quality.
- Deep expertise in C/C++ and Python.
- Experience with SIP, WebRTC, RTP/RTCP, and media codec negotiation is preferred.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for real-time media quality issues.
- Understanding of reliability engineering and observability in services.
- Strong sense of urgency, personal agency, and customer empathy.
