Responsibilities

  • Research, design, define, develop, test, document, and implement new applications or changes to existing applications.
  • Solve systems and program problems and recommend appropriate application and hardware solutions.
  • Install software packages and personal computer software and ensure hardware and software operate efficiently.
  • Analyze processing problems and consult with IT, business unit associates, and customers on existing or proposed systems.
  • Provide training, mentoring, and technical guidance to programming staff, systems managers, and business associates.
  • Participate in developmental, improvement, and internal IT technical committees, and may chair committees or subcommittees.
  • Manage multiple assignments and deadlines with minimal supervision while escalating issues and updating the manager as needed.
  • Document procedures and activities using prescribed formats and comply with organizational policies and standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or commensurate selection-criteria experience.
  • Significant programming experience covering research, design, requirements gathering, business-unit collaboration, development, testing, documentation, and production support.
  • Experience advising programming associates on technical and application-related aspects of the job.
  • Experience working effectively within a team and motivating coworkers in difficult situations.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Experience organizing and completing projects under multiple deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in programming languages required by the individual business unit.
  • Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Ability to prepare clear, accurate documentation and correspondence using prescribed formats and appropriate grammar, punctuation, diction, and spelling.
