Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end AWS solution architecture for the NCDS platform, including target-state architecture, reference patterns, and adoption standards.
- Set technical direction for platform-scale infrastructure across VPC, IAM, S3, Glue, Kinesis, EC2, Lambda, and RDS.
- Architect ingestion, processing, and integration pipelines connecting NCDS with AWS services and modern data platforms.
- Define governance, security, data protection, and architecture assurance controls.
- Chair Technical Design Authority reviews and lead complex designs through stakeholder approval.
- Communicate architecture strategy to technical and non-technical audiences and mentor architects and engineers.
Requirements
- At least eight years of experience in solution or technical architecture roles, including significant AWS platform architecture experience.
- Deep expertise in EC2, S3, IAM, VPC, Glue, Kinesis, Lambda, and RDS.
- Experience defining programme-scale infrastructure-as-code standards using Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Strong knowledge of cloud governance, security, and data protection controls.
- Experience integrating AWS architectures with Databricks Lakehouse or Delta Lake and resolving complex cross-team architecture issues.
- Experience chairing or presenting at a Technical Design Authority or equivalent governance forum and engaging senior client stakeholders.
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional and Databricks certification are helpful but not stated as required.
- Experience in regulated or public-sector environments and enterprise or reference architecture supported by TOGAF are helpful.
- Active SC and NPPV3 clearance, or the willingness and ability to obtain both, is essential.
