Responsibilities
- Shape the team’s technical scope, product roadmaps, dependencies, and technical-debt reduction in partnership with product and engineering management.
- Design, develop, maintain, and scale high-availability distributed backend applications.
- Write clean, tested, and maintainable code and support frequent production delivery.
- Implement integrations with foundational models and automation systems for back-office teams.
- Optimize, measure, and monitor distributed systems and software delivery.
- Mentor mid- and senior-level engineers through technical guidance, code reviews, documentation, and knowledge sharing.
- Lead initiatives that improve engineering culture and team effectiveness.
- Participate in engineering recruitment and employer-brand initiatives.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience building complex distributed systems with Java and/or Kotlin and Spring Boot or Spring AI.
- Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, distributed systems, domain-driven design, and Hexagonal, Event-Driven, and Microservices architecture patterns.
- Experience applying Clean Code, TDD/BDD, observability, and other engineering best practices.
- Experience designing and implementing robust REST APIs.
- Professional experience with PostgreSQL, including performance and scalability considerations.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and a DevOps-oriented approach; AWS and/or Kubernetes experience is a plus.
- Proven ability to use AI coding agents such as Claude Code, Gemini Code, and GitHub Copilot critically while maintaining code integrity and security.
- Python, LangChain, and RAG pipeline knowledge is a plus.
- Ability to guide, unblock, mentor, and collaborate with engineers while demonstrating strong ownership and communication.
