Responsibilities
- Serve as the technical lead for the Guidewire Commercial Lines PolicyCenter platform.
- Lead solution design, technical reviews, architecture decisions, and engineering decision-making for complex applications.
- Collaborate with architects, engineering teams, product teams, and business stakeholders to align technical solutions with business objectives.
- Drive platform reliability, resiliency, performance, maintainability, modernization, automation, and operational excellence.
- Lead root cause analysis and resolution of complex production issues and implement long-term corrective actions.
- Identify and reduce technical debt while improving platform health, supportability, and sustainability.
- Establish engineering standards, development best practices, and quality expectations.
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring, coaching, knowledge sharing, and design guidance to engineers.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and AI-assisted development opportunities to improve engineering effectiveness.
- Support estimation, planning, technical execution, system dependency analysis, integration requirements, and risk assessment.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience developing complex software or systems using one or more programming languages.
- Experience analyzing and understanding complex software systems and communicating technical information.
- Experience developing solution-delivery and design approaches for customers.
- Experience analyzing and estimating project size and work efforts for software solutions.
- Experience providing technical guidance and leadership to less experienced staff.
- Extensive knowledge of software development and design standards, methodologies, infrastructure technologies, operating systems, and software-tool interconnectivity.
- Knowledge of the systems development life cycle, application architecture, integration strategies, and migration technologies.
- Experience in software engineering, application development, or platform engineering for complex enterprise applications is preferred.
- Experience with Guidewire PolicyCenter in development, solution design, support, or technical leadership is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of Guidewire BillingCenter, ClaimCenter, integrations, and modernization initiatives is preferred.
- Experience supporting business-critical applications requiring high availability, reliability, and operational excellence is preferred.
- Experience with technical design discussions, architecture reviews, solution planning, performance improvement, resiliency, reliability, root cause analysis, and complex production issue resolution is preferred.
- Familiarity with cloud technologies, automation, observability tools, and modern engineering practices is preferred.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, decision-making, collaboration, and technical-influence skills are preferred.
