Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end platform architecture and establish standards for Kubernetes topology, multi-tenancy, cluster lifecycle, and workload design.
- Define and govern Kubernetes, Red Hat OpenShift, AKS, GitOps, ArgoCD, Terraform, Azure, and future multi-cloud platform strategies.
- Set infrastructure-as-code architecture, including module design, repository structure, state management, and governance practices.
- Define observability, reliability, SLO/SLI, error-budget, incident-response, post-mortem, and platform security strategies.
- Establish standards for secrets management, policy enforcement, network segmentation, compliance controls, container image supply chains, and vulnerability management.
- Define CI/CD architecture, progressive delivery patterns, deployment standards, and developer-facing platform abstractions.
- Provide technical direction to DevOps engineers and collaborate with software architects on coherent end-to-end system designs.
- Author architectural decision records, reference architectures, platform governance documentation, and technology recommendations.
- Represent platform architecture in cross-functional planning, capacity planning, roadmap decisions, and organizational technology strategy.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Computer Science-related engineering, or a related field is required.
- At least 5 years of progressive experience in DevOps, platform engineering, or infrastructure architecture is required.
- Demonstrated architect-level experience owning platform strategy and driving adoption across multiple teams or solutions.
- Mastery of Kubernetes in production, including cluster architecture, operator frameworks, and platform lifecycle management.
- Expert Terraform skills covering module architecture, state management, and governance at scale.
- Deep ArgoCD expertise, including multi-cluster management, application sets, promotion workflows, and GitOps operational patterns.
- Broad and deep Azure knowledge covering networking, identity, cost management, landing zones, and Azure-native services.
- Strong observability expertise and experience designing or selecting tooling stacks such as Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry.
- Ability to collaborate with software architects and communicate platform decisions to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Software engineering background or equivalent experience sufficient to understand application design constraints.
- Preferred: 10 or more years of information technology experience, hands-on software development experience, regulated-industry platform experience, on-premises Kubernetes and hybrid-cloud experience, AWS or multi-cloud architecture experience, Kubernetes or Red Hat certifications, familiarity with Backstage or similar developer portals, and experience with DevOps-related AI tooling.
