
Senior Software Engineer

- Design, develop, maintain, test, and evaluate secure software and cloud infrastructure.
- Work cross-functionally to understand business requirements, architecture, and technology direction and evaluate alternative approaches.
- Build scalable, resilient, secure, and usable software and systems using modern object-oriented languages.
- Design and operate services using service-oriented architectures, APIs, relational databases, asynchronous processing, and containerized cloud workloads.
- Deliver automated unit, integration, and end-to-end testing through a CI/CD pipeline.
- Use Git-based workflows and participate in substantive code reviews.
- Provide production support through logging, metrics, tracing, alerting, incident triage, and rotating on-call coverage.
- Own ambiguous problems through design, implementation, and release; decompose work for others and raise engineering standards.
- Communicate clearly with engineers and non-technical stakeholders.
- Mentor engineers or interns and participate in hiring and interview loops when applicable.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline and 4 years of related experience, or a master’s degree and 2 years of experience, a Ph.D. and 1 year of experience, or 12 years of related experience with no degree.
- Professional experience designing, building, and maintaining production software in a modern object-oriented language such as C#, Java, Kotlin, Go, TypeScript, Python, or C++.
- Strong command of object-oriented design fundamentals, including encapsulation, composition, interface design, SOLID, dependency injection, and design patterns.
- Experience with microservice or service-oriented architectures, distributed failure modes, API versioning, and service boundaries.
- Experience designing and consuming HTTP/REST APIs or gRPC/GraphQL equivalents, including contract design, compatibility, and authentication or authorization patterns.
- Proficiency with relational database schema design, indexing, query tuning, transactions, and managed schema migrations.
- Experience with asynchronous and message-driven processing using queues, topics, or event streams.
- Experience building and operating services in a public cloud environment with containerized workloads.
- Demonstrated automated testing across unit, integration, and end-to-end layers.
- Proficiency with Git-based workflows and code review.
- Experience with production support, observability, and live-incident triage.
- Track record of senior-level ownership, problem decomposition, and raising engineering standards.
- Clear written and verbal communication and experience with an Agile or iterative delivery model.
- Preferred qualifications include C# and .NET, ASP.NET Core, Entity Framework Core, React, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis, AWS, Terraform, AWS CDK, CloudFormation, Docker, feature flags, progressive delivery, static analysis, security scanning, legacy-system modernization, vendor API integrations, multi-tenant SaaS, relevant transportation or automotive domains, resiliency practices, and mentoring or hiring experience.
