Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end technical ownership of major features and platform components.
- Architect, implement, test, deploy, and operate scalable cloud-native services.
- Collaborate with product, design, data science, and engineering teams to translate requirements into technical solutions.
- Write design documents, participate in architectural reviews, and provide technical feedback.
- Identify and resolve technical debt, performance bottlenecks, reliability gaps, and difficult production issues.
- Use AI-assisted development tools for coding, testing, code review, and documentation, and promote effective usage across the team.
- Mentor mid-level engineers through code reviews, design walkthroughs, and pairing sessions.
- Improve team processes, development standards, and on-call practices.
Requirements
- 10+ years of software engineering experience, including at least two years in a staff-level role or functioning at that scope.
- Deep expertise in at least one of backend systems, platform engineering, cloud infrastructure, data engineering, or AI/ML integration.
- Proven experience designing and shipping complex software systems end to end.
- Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills for production systems.
- Proficiency in at least one backend language such as Java, Go, Python, or Node.js; polyglot experience is preferred.
- Experience with microservices, APIs, relational and non-relational databases, event streaming, cloud platforms, and container orchestration.
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Helm, Terraform, and modern CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions or ArgoCD.
- Working knowledge of distributed tracing, structured logging, and SLO/SLA-based alerting using tools such as Datadog, OpenTelemetry, or Prometheus.
- Exposure to LLM REST APIs, prompt engineering, vector search, or embedding pipelines.
- Habitual use of AI-powered developer tools such as Copilot or Claude Code, with sound judgment about reviewing and trusting generated code.
- Ability to work cross-functionally, operate under ambiguity, communicate complex systems clearly, and drive alignment.
- Experience in automation, workflow, enterprise software, developer platforms, SDKs, internal tooling, agentic AI frameworks, multi-agent systems, open source, or technical writing is preferred.
