Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end technical ownership of major features and platform components.
  • Architect, implement, test, deploy, and operate scalable cloud-native services.
  • Collaborate with product, design, data science, and engineering teams to translate requirements into technical solutions.
  • Write design documents, participate in architectural reviews, and provide technical feedback.
  • Identify and resolve technical debt, performance bottlenecks, reliability gaps, and difficult production issues.
  • Use AI-assisted development tools for coding, testing, code review, and documentation, and promote effective usage across the team.
  • Mentor mid-level engineers through code reviews, design walkthroughs, and pairing sessions.
  • Improve team processes, development standards, and on-call practices.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience, including at least two years in a staff-level role or functioning at that scope.
  • Deep expertise in at least one of backend systems, platform engineering, cloud infrastructure, data engineering, or AI/ML integration.
  • Proven experience designing and shipping complex software systems end to end.
  • Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills for production systems.
  • Proficiency in at least one backend language such as Java, Go, Python, or Node.js; polyglot experience is preferred.
  • Experience with microservices, APIs, relational and non-relational databases, event streaming, cloud platforms, and container orchestration.
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Helm, Terraform, and modern CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions or ArgoCD.
  • Working knowledge of distributed tracing, structured logging, and SLO/SLA-based alerting using tools such as Datadog, OpenTelemetry, or Prometheus.
  • Exposure to LLM REST APIs, prompt engineering, vector search, or embedding pipelines.
  • Habitual use of AI-powered developer tools such as Copilot or Claude Code, with sound judgment about reviewing and trusting generated code.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally, operate under ambiguity, communicate complex systems clearly, and drive alignment.
  • Experience in automation, workflow, enterprise software, developer platforms, SDKs, internal tooling, agentic AI frameworks, multi-agent systems, open source, or technical writing is preferred.
