Responsibilities
- Advise large customers and resolve complex MongoDB issues involving architecture, performance, recovery, security, networking, storage, and availability.
- Analyze problems holistically from the application tier through databases and storage in mission-critical production environments.
- Contribute to internal software, automation, AI-assisted diagnostics, performance analysis, benchmarking, and knowledge-discovery tools.
- Document technical solutions, write knowledge-base articles, deliver training and workshops, and mentor new team members.
- Collaborate with product management and development teams to advocate for customer needs and technical escalations.
- Learn and teach new MongoDB, AI, and data-platform capabilities across the MongoDB ecosystem.
Requirements
- 5+ years of proven experience, with consideration for self-taught and multifaceted candidates.
- Systems engineering experience covering Linux performance, memory management, I/O tuning, configuration, security, networking, clusters, and troubleshooting.
- Understanding of Kubernetes concepts including containers, namespaces, custom resources, and multi-cluster deployments.
- Understanding of networking concepts and protocols including DNS, TCP/IP, and SSL/TLS.
- Storage engineering experience with NAS, SAN, SSD, multipathing, and caching.
- Experience building and maintaining complex, mission-critical production database systems and analyzing performance, availability, and scalability.
- Ability to read code and perform basic coding or scripting in one or more of Java, Python, Ruby, C, C++, C#, JavaScript, Node.js, and Go.
- Preferred experience includes large-scale RDBMS or NoSQL databases, LDAP, Kerberos, Active Directory, MongoDB, Git, AWS, Azure, GCP, and Kubernetes CLI utilities.
- MongoDB experience is not required because training is provided.
