Responsibilities
- Identify opportunities to evolve the Uber One program across UberEats and UberX.
- Collaborate with engineers, product managers, data scientists, and designers to build and optimize products used by millions of members.
- Architect highly available and scalable systems for complex technical challenges.
- Drive technical strategy for platform evolution, microservices architecture, and API design.
- Lead technical projects end-to-end from inception through design, deployment, and productionization.
- Define standards for testing, monitoring, and alerting, and oversee complex incident management.
- Align teams on technical tradeoffs and cultivate engineering quality, velocity, and technical excellence.
Requirements
- 5+ years of software engineering experience building large-scale systems.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Extensive hands-on Android development experience with Java and/or Kotlin, including code reviews.
- Experience developing mobile applications used by hundreds of millions of users.
- Strong understanding of algorithms, data structures, distributed systems, system design, and software architecture.
- Experience identifying architectural gaps and creating organization-wide frameworks that improve developer velocity and reduce technical debt.
- Proven ability to lead technical projects through the full lifecycle.
- Experience defining testing, monitoring, and alerting standards and overseeing organizational incident management.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners around a technical vision.
- Marketplace experience, real-time marketplace platform experience, user research and data analysis experience, and strong cross-company technical collaboration are preferred.
Benefits
- Base salary is USD $202,000–$224,000 per year for roles based in New York City, San Francisco, or Sunnyvale.
- Eligible for Uber's bonus program and may be offered equity and other compensation.
