Base Salary

$120k - $155k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Own the AI/ML architecture, technical strategy, model selection, data architecture, evaluation approach, deployment topology, and build-versus-buy recommendations.
  • Translate business problems across sales, engineering, and plant operations into a prioritized AI portfolio with realistic value and feasibility assessments.
  • Establish reproducible training and evaluation, model and prompt versioning, monitoring, drift detection, rollback, audit trails, and data governance standards.
  • Build document and specification intelligence that extracts requirements from PDFs, drawings, spreadsheets, and technical documents into candidate configurations.
  • Develop configuration, quoting, competitive crossover, pricing, discount, cost estimation, BOM anomaly detection, rule mining, and engineering change impact capabilities.
  • Build manufacturing intelligence for labor and routing prediction, material shortage and schedule risk forecasting, test-data anomaly detection, and quality defect prediction.
  • Develop retrieval-grounded assistants and agents that use configurator, PLM, and ERP APIs to support sales engineers, application engineers, and service technicians.
  • Design human-in-the-loop workflows with confidence thresholds, graceful abstention, traceability, and safe deployment across on-premise, edge, and cloud environments.
  • Assess and improve data foundations across CPQ, PLM, ERP, and MES, including master data, part number governance, labor reporting, pipelines, feature engineering, and datasets.
  • Mentor software and data engineers, participate in design reviews, and partner with the Program Manager on technical feasibility and delivery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in software or data engineering and at least 5 years building machine learning or AI systems that reached production and real users.
  • Demonstrated long-term ownership of a production AI/ML system, including diagnosing post-launch failures and improving the system.
  • Strong Python and SQL skills.
  • Depth in classical and tabular machine learning, gradient boosting, scikit-learn, deep learning frameworks, and LLM application patterns including retrieval, structured extraction, tool use, and evaluation.
  • Experience deploying and operating models in production, including containerization, CI/CD, cloud ML platforms, monitoring, and cost management.
  • Experience with enterprise data such as ERP and PLM schemas, MES and historian data, and semi-structured documents.
  • Preferred experience includes manufacturing, industrial, engineer-to-order, HVAC, capital equipment, or building-product environments.
  • Preferred familiarity with BOM structures, variant and option modeling, routings, standard times, and engineering change processes.
  • Preferred experience includes document AI, information extraction, optimization and operations research, industrial computer vision, edge or on-premise inference in OT environments, and building an AI function as an early senior hire.
