Responsibilities
- Own and provide technical support and guidance for specific application modules during solution design and complex issue resolution.
- Design, develop, modify, debug, maintain, and improve software systems throughout the software development life cycle.
- Participate in peer code reviews and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver maintainable, scalable, and supportable code.
- Investigate and fix defects, develop workarounds, review changes for operability, and identify and mitigate technical risks.
- Present software product demonstrations to stakeholders and internal or external customers.
- Lead or represent technical discussions and design reviews related to products, applications, modules, or teams.
- Use automation, software engineering tools, and reusable solutions to improve efficiency and simplify user experiences.
- Provide technical mentoring within the team.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of software development experience with a Mainframe background.
- Experience with Mainframe, z/OS, TSO, ISFP, JCL, REXX, Assembler, ESP or CA7 batch scheduling, abend and error resolution, and Connect Direct.
- Experience with large language models such as GPT or Claude.
- Familiarity with AI productivity tools such as Microsoft Copilot.
- Knowledge of prompt engineering and optimization, model fine-tuning and customization, Python, APIs, SDKs for AI integration, and AWS.
- Ability to handle complex assignments, provide technical guidance, collaborate cross-functionally, and contribute to continuous improvement.
