Responsibilities
- Own release strategy and execution across Java, Node.js, and iOS runtimes.
- Design and build agentic release pipelines with automated diff review, policy-as-code merge gates, signed-commit attestations, and human-in-the-loop approvals.
- Develop release automation using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Buildkite, artifact registries, code signing, reproducible builds, and SBOM generation.
- Define branching, versioning, release-train, hotfix, and release-readiness practices across runtimes.
- Own deployment observability, canary and progressive backend rollouts, phased iOS releases, rollback, and mean-time-to-recovery.
- Lead build provenance, dependency vulnerability gating, secret scanning, license compliance, and software supply-chain governance.
- Mentor MTS and SMTS engineers, lead design reviews, and represent release engineering in cross-organizational architecture forums.
- Drive cross-team technical initiatives from design through rollout and align engineering, security, and product stakeholders.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in release engineering, build engineering, or developer infrastructure with technical leadership on a platform-scale system.
- Hands-on release experience with at least two of the JVM, Node.js, or iOS ecosystems and working knowledge of the third.
- Deep expertise with CI/CD platforms such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Buildkite, or CircleCI.
- Strong scripting skills in Bash, Python, or TypeScript and infrastructure-as-code experience with Terraform or Pulumi.
- Deep knowledge of Git internals, including rebases, bisects, signed commits, hooks, and monorepo workflows.
- Experience designing merge policies, branch protection, and release governance for organizations of 100 or more engineers.
- Demonstrated experience leading cross-team technical initiatives and aligning engineering, security, and product teams.
- Preferred experience integrating Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot Workspace, Devin, or internal AI agent frameworks into development workflows.
- Preferred familiarity with OPA, Conftest, Sigstore, in-toto, SLSA, and supply-chain security tooling.
- Preferred experience running iOS releases at scale, including provisioning automation, certificate rotation, App Store review handling, staged rollouts, and crash-rate gating.
- Preferred background in incident response, on-call leadership, and serving as the senior-most engineer in a release or build organization.

- The stated base salary range is $172,500-$260,100 annually, or $207,800-$285,800 annually in select San Francisco and New York City metropolitan areas; bonus, equity, and benefits are excluded from these ranges.
