Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership in a Java-based environment and ensure best practices in custom application development.
- Architect and implement AI-driven and agentic AI solutions that execute workflows and optimize City operations.
- Apply Model Context Protocol and Retrieval-Augmented Generation to City workflows and use cases.
- Lead automation of DevOps tasks to improve deployment efficiency, reliability, and developer productivity.
- Integrate cloud-native services, AI tooling, and automation frameworks into existing applications and platforms.
- Collaborate with product owners, project managers, and cross-functional teams to gather requirements and deliver solutions on time.
- Implement automation, AI components, agentic behaviors, cloud services, and custom development end to end.
- Oversee assigned special projects and initiatives.
Requirements
- At least a four-year high school diploma or educational equivalent is required.
- At least three years of progressively responsible, satisfactory IT experience is required, including applications development, systems development, data communications and networking, database administration, data processing, or user services.
- At least 18 months of the required experience must be in an administrative, managerial, executive, or supervisory capacity.
- Qualifying alternatives include a master's degree in computer science with three years of IT experience, a bachelor's degree with four years of relevant experience, a high school diploma with six years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Undergraduate or graduate credits may substitute for limited portions of the required IT experience, but not for the required 18 months of administrative, managerial, executive, or supervisory experience.
- Applicants must be permanent City employees in the title, reachable on the current civil service list, or otherwise meet the stated civil service eligibility requirements.
