Base Salary
$178k - $267k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead the technical architecture and scaling of marketplace-wide privacy platforms with strong reliability, observability, and performance.
- Build and optimize consent and preference management, data access and deletion request, classification, and Safety by Design systems.
- Partner with Legal and Product to translate compliance requirements into APIs, data models, and implementation plans.
- Create reusable privacy-preserving developer patterns, paved paths, and documentation.
- Contribute production code, make build-versus-buy decisions, and drive technical quality through architecture and code reviews.
- Monitor privacy metrics, mitigate architectural risks, participate in support rotations, and automate operational toil.
- Mentor and pair with engineers while driving execution and alignment across teams.
Requirements
- 7+ years of software engineering experience or Staff-level equivalent experience leading architecture and delivery for complex, ambiguous systems.
- Strong hands-on expertise building reliable backend platforms, APIs, and distributed systems within large codebases.
- Proficiency in at least one production language such as PHP, Python, Java, or Go.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure, ideally GCP, service observability, CI/CD, and production incident response.
- Ability to communicate complex technical tradeoffs and build alignment across Product, Legal, and Engineering.
- Experience translating policy requirements with legal, compliance, security, and risk partners into scalable engineering controls.
- Foundational knowledge of privacy by design, data minimization, access controls, data pipelines, metadata systems, PII discovery, classification, and lineage.
- Background in software engineering, security engineering, privacy engineering, or a closely related technical discipline; legal or regulatory experience is welcome.
