Base Salary
$220k - $270k/yr
Responsibilities
- Set AWS infrastructure direction and evolve the platform, including migration from ECS/Fargate toward a more scalable platform.
- Own infrastructure as code, Docker-based container foundations, CI/CD systems, ephemeral environments, and preview deployments.
- Define observability standards for metrics, logs, tracing, alerting, dashboards, and SLOs.
- Define reliability standards, SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets.
- Lead high-severity incidents, incident response, on-call practices, postmortems, and actionable follow-ups.
- Partner with engineering teams on resilient, scalable system design.
- Write production-quality code and automation to reduce toil and operational risk.
- Mentor engineers and influence infrastructure practices across the engineering organization.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in software engineering, infrastructure, or SRE roles.
- Production experience with modern languages such as TypeScript, Python, or Rust, including production-quality scripts, tools, and services.
- Deep hands-on experience running production workloads on AWS, including container platforms such as ECS/Fargate.
- Expertise with Terraform, Docker, and Git workflows in production.
- Solid working knowledge of Kubernetes and Helm.
- Experience designing and operating CI/CD systems such as GitHub Actions, including build parallelization and developer experience improvements.
- Deep experience with observability across metrics, logs, tracing, and alerting, including SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets.
- Experience evaluating architectures, making stage-appropriate trade-offs, and driving infrastructure decisions across teams.
- Experience mentoring engineers and shaping infrastructure practices across an engineering organization.
- Preferred: experience owning broad infrastructure at a high-growth startup, operating Kafka or a similar distributed messaging system at scale, and building developer tooling adopted by engineers.
