Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable, reliable, and secure backend systems for content visibility and search.
- Contribute to technical direction, lead system design reviews, and ensure high-quality maintainable code.
- Implement and shape A/B-tested features rolled out to Vinted’s global user base.
- Own service performance and stability, monitor service-level measurements, and participate in the on-call rotation.
- Lead team-level technical initiatives and collaborate on integrations with Search and Recommender relevance teams.
- Provide technical feasibility assessments, identify risks, and estimate effort for product roadmap planning.
- Mentor engineers and promote engineering excellence and collaborative best practices.
- Collaborate with engineering, product, analytics, and other cross-functional stakeholders.
Requirements
- Extensive backend software engineering experience designing and building scalable, distributed, and highly available systems.
- Strong backend engineering foundation; experience with Go, Kotlin, Ruby, or Python is beneficial.
- Experience with event streaming platforms such as Kafka or Apache Flink for real-time processing and message queueing.
- Experience with search engines, information retrieval, and ranking technologies such as Vespa, Elasticsearch, or OpenSearch is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of continuous integration and deployment pipelines, including tools such as Jenkins.
- Experience with observability and monitoring tools such as Grafana and Kibana, and with defining SLIs and SLOs.
- Experience working with relational and in-memory databases.
- Experience collaborating with Product, Analytics, SRE, and other cross-functional peers.
- Experience mentoring engineers and promoting engineering best practices.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
